Jojo’s introduction to posture and movement started in Canada where, from an early age, she dedicated herself to a career in ballet which spanned 18 years. When her body finally started complaining and she hung up her ballet shoes, a degree in philosophy, though interesting, did not fill the void!
In time she discovered pilates and fell in love with many of the same principles that had so fulfilled her in ballet - the precision, practice and dedication that started to deliver that strong, well-body feeling and when a serious car accident left her with a fractured spine, it was the benefits of that postural practice and deep core engagement which led her into a full recovery.
Jojo has taught Group & Private Equipment and Mat Pilates and Barre classes for over 16 years in South Africa and the U.K., working within small boutique Pilates studios and in her own Home Studio, where 1:1 Private sessions are held.
She is a certified STOTT PILATES Instructor, with numerous qualifications that cover: Reformer Pilates, Stability Chair, Total Barre, Menopause & Mid-Life Health, Pre & Post Natal, Equestrian, Sports Specific, Pilates for Horse Riders (APPI Health Group), Dance Conditioning. Jojo works with and is given referrals from Gp's, Physios and other Specialists.
She works with individuals from the age of 13 to 87, helping them through different issues such as cancer recovery; Parkinson's; fribromyalgia; hip, back, knee and shoulder surgery.
Jojo continues to help professional and amateur athletes with the balance and functionality of their bodies, helping them perform better and prolong their careers.
Clients will always be treated with a patient and caring approach, and the sessions will always include smiles and laughter (no extra cost!)
